The first step towards a successful professional future
Training young people is not only a societal responsibility for us, but also a matter close to our hearts. On the one hand, it is important to invest in training in times when there is a shortage of skilled workers, but on the other hand, we also want to enable all school leavers to enter the world of work and get off to the best possible start. Our apprentices of today are the specialists and managers of tomorrow. In order to achieve this, we pursue structured training concepts that are closely aligned with the IHK apprenticeship framework. In addition to teaching all technical content, personal development is also very important to us. The transition from school to working life is often very challenging, which is why we always have an open ear for our apprentices and help them to find and strengthen their professional personality.
The commercial apprenticeship takes place in a dual system. Dual means that it takes place at two different learning locations: the apprenticing company and the vocational school. While the company focuses on practical work, the vocational school teaches all the important theoretical content. We work closely with the vocational school to ensure that our trainees receive the best possible training. In the company, our trainees pass through all areas of an industrial company: from purchasing to HR to sales. This allows them to get a taste of everything and find out where their strengths lie, and which area has caught their interest for a career at the end of their apprenticeship.
Our commercial apprentices usually attend the Friedrich-List-Berufskolleg in Hamm for two 2 days a week, where they are trained in various subjects such as business procedures or steering and control. We have maintained an excellent and constructive working relationship for many years. Interested parties can obtain detailed information about the vocational school via the following external link:
It is important to us that our apprentices can balance their private and professional lives in the best possible way. To achieve this, we offer different ways of organizing working hours depending on the area of the company.
All apprentices have access to our kitchens with free coffee, water and fresh fruit.
Apprentices also contribute to the company’s success! It is therefore important to us to pay our apprentices fairly and equitably.
As well as textbooks, we are happy to support our apprentices with additional learning materials.
On request, we also support our apprentices with additional qualifications.
Once the apprenticeship is completed, the actual start of their career begins. Every year, our aim is to offer apprentices who have shown motivation and good performance a long-term position in our company. For this purpose, we sit down together at the end of the apprenticeship and discuss possible career paths, considering the available positions in the company and the individual strengths and interests of the apprentices. We are delighted with every young person who completes their training with us and then helps us to be successful in the long run.

Diversity in the team is important to us! With us, your performance counts just as much as your personality, regardless of age, origin, gender, sexual identity, disability or religion.” – Many companies like to adorn themselves with quotes like this, but unfortunately this does not always correspond to reality – but at DSI it does. In my apprenticeship, I not only feel professionally challenged, but above all I am in good hands as a person. Despite my different background and religion, I am grateful for the appreciation and cooperation that makes this place a place where I feel completely at ease.
